NFP Scholarships to High School Seniors
Nebraskans for Peace is offering scholarships to graduating high school students. Three $500 scholarships and six $100 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who wish to pursue a college education. The awards, based upon written essays, will be evenly divided among the three congressional districts. The recipients will be students who wish to further their education in an area consistent with the mission of Nebraskans for Peace: peace with justice through community building, education and political action.
Applications should go within the body of an email (not as an attachment) to
[email protected] on or before April 15, 2024. Winners will be notified no later than April 30, 2023.
The application must include:
1. The student’s full name, address, and congressional district.
2. The name of the anticipated college or university he or she plans to attend.
3. The name of the high school he or she will be graduating from.
4. An essay of 750 to 1000 words
1. Select one of the three Nebraskans for Peace priorities (www.nebraskansforpeace.org).
2. Describe this issue using an alternative approach, using non-violent or restorative justice techniques.
3. Specify the procedures people would follow to implement your approach.
4. Describe examples of specific behaviors based on those procedures.
5. Identify obstacles to using your alternative approach.
6. Evaluate how realistic your approach is.
